After 8 years as an officer in the German Army with three overseas deployments, I developed a deep appreciation for operational excellence and its critical role in success. I learned that while organisations with poor operational performance can still exhibit good vital signs, those with strong operational performance almost invariably do.
I took this experience and mentality to STAUFEN AG, one of Germany’s leading consulting companies in operations management. My military perspective was enriched by hands-on industrial experience. As I expected, with few exceptions, the analogies and similarities are striking. These two angles on operations allow me to make compelling arguments that go beyond the conventional business approach.
The next step was a leadership position at one of Italy’s most iconic family companies. I managed production at a site in southern France for which I had previously provided consultancy. This was the key differentiating step—nothing fosters understanding like shared experience.
